Michael Jackson Dance was a global competition playable across Bebo and Facebook. We developed a Flash game starring Navi, a Michael Jackson impersonator. Navi performed all the necessary moves in a green screen studio and the resulting video was edited to make the MJ character for the game.
Users could install the MJ Dance app on Bebo or Facebook and compete to achieve the highest score. The application's leader board worked across both networks so that Bebo and Facebook users could compete against each other on the same high score table. The competition ran for a week during which time over 11,000 Facebook and Bebo users played a total of 67,000 games. We also ran a standalone version of the game at dance.michaeljackson.com where another 107,000 players joined in.
We gave away hourly and daily prizes for the highest scores and five PlayStation 3s to the overall highest scorers at the end of the week.
